Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out the price?

Send us your document through the form or by email. Prices vary with language, length and the certification required, so we always send an individual, no-obligation quote.

Do I need an apostille or consular legalisation?

It depends on the country where the document will be used. Hague Convention countries accept an apostille; others require consular legalisation. We will check this for you.

Can you help if I live outside the Czech Republic?

Yes. We obtain and certify Czech documents with a power of attorney and deliver them anywhere in the world.

Certified translation

What is the difference between a certified and a regular translation?

A certified translation is made by a court-appointed translator who confirms with an official seal and clause that it matches the original. A regular translation has no official standing and is usually not accepted by authorities.

How long does a certified translation take?

Standard documents such as a birth certificate or criminal record extract usually take a few working days. Express service is available on request; the exact deadline is stated in your quote.

How much does a certified translation cost?

The price depends on the language pair, length and type of text, and the deadline. Send us your document through the form and we will reply with a free, no-obligation quote.

Do I need to come in person?

No. Everything can be handled remotely – send us the document by post or courier and we deliver the translation back to you.

Professional translation

Do you handle large volumes?

Yes. For larger projects a team of translators works with shared terminology and a reviser harmonises the result.

Which file formats can you work with?

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, InDesign, XML, CMS exports and more. We keep your layout intact.

Apostille

Which countries accept an apostille?

Countries that have joined the Hague Apostille Convention – including most European countries, the USA and many others. Other countries require consular legalisation. We always check your specific country.

Do I need to visit the ministry in person?

No, we handle it for you. Just send us the document and we take care of the rest.

Can you get an apostille on a foreign document?

An apostille is always issued by the country where the document was issued. Through our international partner network, we can arrange apostilles in many other countries as well.

Consular & embassy legalisation

How long does consular legalisation take?

It depends on the destination country – some embassies certify on the spot, others take several weeks. We give you a realistic deadline in advance.

What is the difference between an apostille and legalisation?

An apostille is a one-step certification for Hague Convention countries. Consular legalisation is a multi-step procedure for other countries, ending with certification by their embassy or consulate.

Notary & certification services

Can you certify a copy of a foreign-language document?

Certifying copies of foreign-language documents has some limitations in the Czech Republic. We will recommend the best route – often a combination of certified translation and certification.

Certified true copies

How many certified copies do I need?

It depends on how many institutions you are submitting to. We will advise how many copies and translations are worth making at once.

Power of attorney & signatures

Does the signature on a power of attorney need to be certified?

For most official acts, yes. We confirm the requirements with the institution you are submitting it to.

Document retrieval

Can you obtain a document if I live abroad?

Yes, that is our most common case. We handle everything with a power of attorney and send the documents anywhere in the world.

Interpreting

How far in advance should I book an interpreter?

For common languages a few days is usually enough; for conferences and less common languages we recommend booking earlier.

Do I need a sworn interpreter to marry in Czechia?

If your partner does not speak Czech, the registry office usually requires a registered interpreter to be present. We can arrange one.
